This hyperbaric environment drives excess oxygen into the blood plasma, bypassing red blood cells for superior tissue saturation. It accelerates healing by fueling cellular repair, reducing edema, and combating hypoxia in damaged areas.
HBOT applies 2–3 ATA pressure (per Henry’s law), driving 10–15 times more oxygen to dissolve directly into plasma, independent of hemoglobin, for diffusion into hypoxic tissues. This hyperoxygenation suppresses anaerobic pathogens induces vasoconstriction to curb edema, and upregulates growth factors (e.g., VEGF, HIF-1α) plus stem cell mobilization. Outcomes includes accelerated angiogenesis, reduced reperfusion injury, and optimized wound healing.
Under trained supervision in FDA-cleared monoplace or multiplace chambers, HBOT is safe with low risk (e.g., <1% barotrauma like ear squeeze, mitigated by equalization techniques). Rare issues like oxygen toxicity are prevented via protocol limits (e.g., <2.4 ATA for 90 minutes). Patient screening excludes contraindications like untreated pneumothorax.’
